Our commitment to safety is reflected in our continuous improvement over the last several years – both for injuries and severity. Although we have opportunity to improve, our 10% and 15% year-over-year improvement reflects the leadership and passion Reliance has for eliminating workplace injuries.

Reliance uses several indicators to assess health and safety performance. Lagging indicators include the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR), as well as the average Department of Transportation Recordable Accident Rate per million miles (DOT Rate).

Reliance was also lower than the MSCI (peer) average of 3.19, as reported in their most recent 2024 survey. A lower TRIR means that fewer people are injured on the job, and fewer lives are negatively impacted.
